Auto Glass & Insurance: Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will my insurance rates increase if I ask about an auto glass claim
    or check my deductible?

Generally speaking, asking your provider about coverage or deductibles isn’t considered a claim. Check with your
insurance agent or review your policy to be sure.

  2. If I file a claim for auto glass repair or replacement, will it count as
a claim against my insurance policy?

Insurance companies generally won’t consider auto glass
damage as a claim against your policy.  To verify your specific
coverage, consult with your insurance agent or refer to your
    policy.

  3. Is auto glass repair/replacement considered a claim if I only have
    liability coverage?

Auto glass repair/replacement wouldn’t be covered, since
liability insurance covers damage to other vehicles and bodily
injury to others.  AAA offers convenient payment options,
including cash, checks and major credit cards (American
    Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa).

  4. If my windshield is repaired, not replaced, will my insurance
    company waive my deductible?

Most insurance companies will cover windshield repairs 100
percent, without a deductible.  Check with your insurance
    provider to be certain.

  5. Should I call my insurance provider about auto glass repair/replacement before I contact AAA?

We can usually file the claim with your insurance provider and
fill out the paperwork.  If we can’t, we’ll contact your insurance
company and submit the claim on your behalf.
